Bingo. The common name is spiderwort. It likes shade and moisture. You can also get one called Sweet Kate that has golden green foliage.

i really like it, but I've heard it's a bit on the weed/invasive side. Anything to worry about?

Wasn't invasive here in zone 9 in heavy soil. It did get tall and floppy so I cut the foliage down by half. It didn't miss it. After a couple of years the clump was wide enough to divide.

This is one of those plants that is bulletproof. If and when it's time to divide or reduce its size, it's a big job. The root balls are very tough to divide. But I have never found it to be invasive in the sense of putting out aggressive runners and spreading out of bounds very fast. On the other hand, it's possible it would if it was in really cushy soil. I have always grown it in woodsy soil where it had lots of competition.

Seeded itself around like crazy in my garden and very floppy to boot. Not enough impact for the effort and out it came!!
