Photos - Tulips and Frits

I took some pics on 05.11.11 of some of the tulips and "Checkered Lily" fritillarias that we have growing on site in zone 4b southwestern Minnesota.

We have around 500 tulips that were planted over the last 3-4 years. All the tulips we have came from bulbs purchased in bulk bags on closeout at the local big box chain store.

The frits are a favorite of mine for their subtle, humble beauty. These bulbs were given to us as a gift around 10 years ago.

I like the depth of colour in those F meleagris! Mine are ALL alba and I'd love some darker ones. Still - it's an Real Excuse to go to the garden centre - isn't it???
