How are the Dutch able to condition the Amaryllis bulbs so that they bloom at Christmas time? I have followed all of the recommendations about giving the bulbs a rest in the fall before watering and giving them warm growing conditions. Despite my efforts, some of them put out foliage long before they bloom, some simply stay dormant for a long time and only bloom in spring or summer. Would putting them in the refrigerator do the trick?
