My iris japonica has opened its first bloom of the season. It is a very hardy plant. It grows with almost no care.

It looks nice. Does it bloom for a long time?

RE: iris japonica

Kato, it blooms in Winter. Each bloom of the cluster lasts only two or three days, but, as they don't open at the same time, the plant has flowers for many days.

RE: iris japonica

Blooms in winter? That's rather unusual. I grew this plant for years in my old garden and it bloomed around April, which is midspring in the northern hemisphere. A wonderful evergreen groundcover type iris for a wooded setting.

And not a bulb :-)
