Newbie Questions

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum but not to bulbs. My neighbor and I bought bulbs at Wal-Mart yesterday. She bought crocus bulbs and I got irises (they're in netted bags). The iris bulbs I got are called Full Tide (a blue color in the picture on the package). It says for our zone to plant them from September to November. The irises I can figure out how to plant as mom's grown them for years. How do I show my neighbor to plant crocus (she's only here on weekends).

I also wanted to ask if anyone has grown iris from seed? I got some in a trade labeled Tall Blue Iris. Are they easy to grow from seed?

RE: Newbie Questions

Bearded iris from seed will take 2 years to bloom. Slow but not difficult.

How do you show your neighbor how to plant crocus? Like most bulbs dig a hole as deep as 3 times the height of the bulb & cover with soil. Is that what you mean to ask?

RE: Newbie Questions

Yes, that's what I meant to ask. Thanks for your help!

-- and keep them out of hollows that could get boggy over winter.
