Rabbit damage

Hey folks

I planted a bunch of gladiolus bulbs this year, but unfortunately never saw a flower - the rabbits in the yard kept munching on the foliage.

Is it worth trying to dig up the bulbs for next year? The foliage has remained between 6-8 inches tall for each all season long and most are still green.

Next year I plan to try again in containers, which usually keep the rabbits at bay, but I wasn't sure if the low growth of the glads this year would allow for enough nutrients to be stored.

Any thoughts?
