ixiolirion tartaricum in warm climate?

I apologize up front for being ignorant - I am still learning about bulbs, which ones hate my climate because it doesn't get cold enough in the winter, etc.

I am trying to find a bulb which:

1) Will grow in partial to full shade (street trees)
2) Will grow in my zone 9 climate (No Calif - not humid)
3) Gets no taller than 15-20 inches
4) Gets no shorter than 12 inches (they will be in a bed of vinca minor, so they have to be tall enough to see).
5) Any color as long as it is not orange.
6) Does not become a huge wide clump - there is a low stone wall behind this bed, with roses behind it, and I am trying to keep the sight lines open. Tall narrow growth like dutch iris would be great (I am looking at Dutch iris, except not sure they would like our hot summers).

I am looking at this one, which the catalogue I found it in says it takes sun or shade or partial shade. However, when I looked it up on the internet it said it absolutely needs full sun. I am confused...

If anyone grows this bulb in No Calif or similar climate (Mediterranean), or has any ideas of other bulbs which would fit the above criteria, I would really appreciate the advice. Thanks for the help - I have a headache now from looking at too many catalogues...

Jackie
