Moving & want to take some lilies

Hi Lily lovers, I am moving and I wonder if I can dig up some lily bulbs now (CT) and overwinter them to plant in the spring when I will be in my new house? Is there any way to do this or do I have to find a friend that will let me plant them in her yard? I would appreciate any advice. Vignewood

I think fall is the best time to dig them up. I will be digging some of mine up in the next week or two to thin out.

Lily bulbs must not be allowed to dry up until planting time.
I know that some suppliers keep them on cold storage, but I don't know how them are kept moist throughout the storage time. Probably the same way Dhalia tubers are overwintered, I suppose.

I would wait as long as I could before the move and dig them and replant them as soon as I got moved. You can always heel them in just to keep them alive and moist until you get settled and then move them to their permanent home.

When exactly is your move? When will you be able to plant the bulbs at the new house? Beds ready, etc.
