GardenWeb needs your feedback!

Hi everyone,

As you may have noticed, we've been sprucing up the site a bit. Among other things, we've added new ways to upload photos and email notifications of post replies. We are still cleaning out cobwebs and weeding some areas of the site, but we are also working on some bigger projects like a better search engine (yay!) and a mobile app. We'd also like to get some feedback from you. What enhancements or additions would you like to see? What do you love? What do you hate? Think big and small!

We can't promise the moon, but please know that we will read and consider every one of your ideas and suggestions. We appreciate your loyalty and dedication to our site and we know how important your community is to you. Help us make it even better!

Please use this post to offer your feedback. But, as always, you are welcome to contact me directly by clicking on my profile page.

Best regards,

Tamara Amey

    Hi,

I'll play, though I'm definitely not the most informed. First, thanks for running this site - it's fun and informative.

The only change I'd suggest is that it'd be nice to have is a way to view posts strictly chronologically, regardless of the specific forum where they fit. Yes, that's admitting I'm too lazy to change forums all the time. :) Obviously not a big deal, and I don't know if it's even feasible.

    thanks again!

I'm new as well, but I have experience with other forums. I go on Chowhound quite often and their site is so easy. You can look at individual forums or see what the latest posts are from all forums. I can look under my profile and see all the posts I've made which is great because I often forget if I make a bunch of posts at once or don't visit for a while. Take a look at the way they've set it up and you'll get lots of ideas; it's truly the easiest site I've ever used. (no, I don't work for them! LOL!)

I'd like to have spam removed more quickly. And make the reporting link much more obvious. Near to the top of the page could be useful.

And I'd like to have unanswered posts remaining at the top of the queue until answered.

On the New to Gardening - an intro that says to start a new thread instead of piggybacking on a years' old thread. Spammers do that, too, and it's easy to overlook a new post by a genuine newbie.

And, while I'm doing the wistful dreams bit - encourage new folk to put in their zone. It is a vital piece of information for answering queries sensibly.

    Thanks in advance.

Remove those darn "bing links" that pop up windows in front of what we are trying to read. Most don't have anything to do with what we are interested in or why we come here in the first place. They are just frustrating!

The thing I like best about Gardenweb is that I am reading an uncluttered page of text, an experience that is fast disappearing all over the web. Please keep the format as simple and clean as possible. Don't replace words with symbols. The only pictures I want to see are users' photos of their plants. Thanks for asking!

    Hi everyone!

You asked and we listened. Today we are very excited to be debuting our newest feature -- post editing! To use this feature, go back to the post you wish to correct and you'll find the link under the 'My Clippings' links on the right side of the page.

I want to give a special shout out to all the testers who tried to break the editing tool. ;) Your feedback was insightful and invaluable. Thank you!

You may have also noticed that we adjusted the login cookie awhile back so that you should not have to login repeatedly.

Stay tuned -- we have more cool things in the works!

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

    Best regards,
    Tamara
