getting bulbs to multiply

Posted by linda_violet Dallas, TX (My Page) on

Last week I planted iron cross shamrock bulbs. They have come up and are bloooming. How can I care for the plants so that the bulbs reproduce? They were a little pricey and I'd like to cultivate my own bulbs, if possible. Thanks :)

RE: getting bulbs to multiply

Usually they don't need all that much help to multiply, but if you want to turn your yard into a bulb factory, here's how:
First, feed them lightly and frequently with a high nitrogen and potash fertilizer, as long as they have leaves. Then dig them up and divide them every 2-3 years to give them maximum room to grow.
Say hello to all the little children! : ])
