Northern IL: Lily bulb sale this weekend at Chicago Botanic Garde

Hosted by the Wisconsin Illinois Lily Society. Our biggest sale of the year will be at the Chicago Botanic Garden on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20, from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM on Saturday (first hour of sale: members only), and from 10.00 AM till we sell out on Sunday. You will find unique varieties, not available in stores, from the best US specialist growers. Plus, members will be on hand to answer your questions on planting and culture.

Extra care was taken this year to find inexpensive bulbs. Only three of the 30 different lilies ordered will cost more than $10.00 each -- one is an elegant Martagon, another is a rather scarce species lily, and the third is a smashing Trumpet. That helps gardeners to stretch their budgets and still buy both early-and late-blooming bulbs to extend their lily season. You will find that bulbs from the top breeders are much bigger, fresher, and better in quality than those found at big box store: giving you superior beauty and more flowers.

Look for us in the Education Center, where the Daffodil Society will also sell bulbs; and The Midwest Fruit Explorers will have their annual tasting, show, and sale of apples. It will be a great opportunity!

For south suburban gardeners, our smaller bulb sale will be at the Barber and Oberwartmann Horticulture Center, 227 N. Gougar Road, Joliet, from 10.00 AM till 1.00 PM on Saturday, October 19.

Please don't reply to this message, so it stays at the top until after this weekend. I will bump it down afterward.
