I don't have any room in my garage so I am considering burying my containers of bulbs in the raised beds of my veggie garden until they start to emerge in spring. Will this work?

Should I give them any sort of additional protection? I could always cover my entire 16'x16' enclosed garden in leaves from wall to wall. Putting leaves on just the beds will just get blown away in the winter time unless I have a way to cover them.
