Forcing Bulbs

Posted by larry22 WI 5 (My Page) on

I potted some crocus bulbs about a month ago and kept the pot in the cool garage..I had hoped to give them to my grandaughter in the winter. They are just beginning to show growth above the soil surface.

Is there anything that I can do to slow the growth or will she get an early flower show?

Thank you

Larry

RE: Forcing Bulbs

My potted crocuses in my cold cellar are also starting to break through the soil. Other than keeping them very cold, I don't think there is anything you can do to slow down the growth. They should flower for you in the winter, either in late January or even February. I'm not an expert on forcing bulbs, but that's my guess, anyway.
