Ranunculus (persian buttercup) corms smell awful

Hi all,
I just bought ranunculus (persian buttercup) corms from an eBay seller. I followed the instruction to soak the corms until the corms became plump again.
Precisely I did the same as the instruction said, after they became plump again I planted them.
But the next day I smelled an awful smell from them, like a smell of a vomit. 2 days later I found out 3 of them seemed rotten, because there was water like a dew appear on their corms.
One of them seems possessed by fungus. I separated the infected one, and the next day it was eaten by rat (even the rat likes rotten thing???)
Okay back to the problem,
I want to ask is the awful smell condition normal? Will they grow well?
