Has anyone tried to grow rudy triteleia bulbs? If so, how happy were you with them? Did the squirrels leave them alone? Thanks.

RE: rudy triteleia bulbs

Okay. This is me fessing up. I ordered 50 (FIFTY) Tritelia, Queen Fabiola bulbs last spring right before the summer shipping season was closed. The bulbs were beautiful. I planted them according to directions. Not one single bulb came up. I am still hoping for next year, but there it is.

The fact that Tritelias are usually listed in the catalogs that come out in late winter for bulbs that are to be planted in the spring and will bloom in the summer, tells me that this would not be a good time to plant them, short of potting them up. Their northernmost hardiness recommendation is zone 5, but in a pot, they would lose one or two zones, which means they would freeze outside in pots where you live. If possible, wait till spring at least.
