Help!!! Empty Planter

I bought this mosaic planter from the retail store in which I used to work. It came in a 50 bucks and I thought it was horribly gawdy. Somehow I grew to like it as it stayed with us for quite some time. Those in the retail business may know what I'm talking about. You look at an ugly item until you start to feel sorry for it and want to give it a good home. Well, such was the case with me. It wasn't until the planter was reduced to 25 dollars that I made up my mind to make the purchase.

Now herein lies my dilema... the thing is too ugly to decide what plant to grow in it. Also, since it is mosaic it must come inside during the winter months due to thermal expansion.

I placed a couple of variety of plants in the pictures linked below to give a since of scale. I was thinking of either creeping jenny or stone crop to pour over the sides, or something dramatic, like a yucca or cactus to be the focal point.

Any and all comments are welcome.
