No, it's best to water heavy and have longer intervals between watering than shorter light watering. That is a huge mistake. Salts and carbonates can be washed out with heavy watering, and remain with light. Buildup of either is not good. You will see deposits around the rim of the pot, again bad news. Long heavy watering mimic rainwater. it doesn't rain every other day.
Of course exceptions exist, what species of plants, what medium it's growing in. It's rare to water light. Some exceptions are overwintering bulbs, dormant cacti, and other dormant plants.
