Container Gardening

Re potting my Fuschia

I have a fuscia in a wooden trough which this year
dsi-integrated. When would it be ok to transfer plant into new container. Plant currently still has green leaves but no flowers.

I would transfer it after frost danger is past. At that time you could also take cuttings in case the old plant doesn't survive.

If you're simply moving the plant to another pot or potting up, you can do it anytime, but doing it while the plant is actively growing is still best. If you're repotting (which includes root pruning and a change of soil), mid to late May would be good timing for the more extensive work.

I'm assuming this is a hardy Fuchsia, purple, if it's large enough to be in a trough. I'd replant it in a few weeks time rather than right now. We may well get some freezing weather before Spring comes properly.

If it is not a hardy variety it would be best potted temporarily and put somewhere frost-free like a shed or greenhouse until it is time to bring it back into growth.
