Rose Hugel Pots

Posted by emgardener 9 BayArea CA (My Page) on

Just repotted some roses.
Using compost and logs as the mix.
Not conventional, but this does seem to
give me the best results for my particular growing
environment: hot, sunny, afternoon only sun, gardener unwilling to hand water daily.

What kind of compost? Like leaves and yard scraps? I found that composted leaves make great compost for container media. I am a big fan of using compost in container media for outside fast growing annuals.

Used composted wood chips. Had these playground wood chips that had been laid down 12 years ago. They've composted nicely, with lots of small wood chips still visible.
