| I have several french and spanish lavenders that I'd like to grow in containers. Ideally, I'd like to remove all of the of original potting mix and repot them in Al's gritty mix, but the potting mix in the 2" nursery plugs is very compacted and might be difficult to remove without doing some damage. Does anyone know how well they tolerate root disturbance? |

| They should tolerate it fine. Buy them early or repot while still dormant. DO remove all the old soil. Don't go overboard, but don't worry about a little damage, either. If you need to prune the roots hard to get rid of all the old soil, prune the top fairly hard, too. You'll be surprised at how well plants like lavender, rosemary, santolina, and other woody herbs will do in the gritty mix. Al |
