30 gallon containers

I'm just bought a few 30 gallon containers for veggies.
It's going to take a lot of potting soil to fill them.
I'm wondering what I can use to fill the bottom as filler that won't be bad for the plants.
We still have oak leaves on the ground that I could use.
Any suggestions?

Empty soda containers or milk jugs with screw-on caps, or over-turned containers with the drain holes blocked all work very well.
