I am going to repot my Eureka lemon to another pot i have my 5-1-1 grit mix ready. My question is can i add osmocote indoor outdoor fertilizer in the grit mix or do i sprinkle it on the top around it.

I find it best to incorporate the Osmocote into the mix.

Osmocote is a brand name for a timed release fertilizer, made in many NPK combinations. There are of course other brands as well. For citrus, mixes heavy on the nitrogen are preferred. I use a 18-6-12 with minors. Citrus grows year around so I prefer a nine month release time. After the initial mixing into the soil as Josh suggests subsequent additions may be scratched into the top of the soil. Al
