It actually looks decent, as far as particle size and distribution. Not too much sapwood from what I can see....but did you add any slow-release nutrients to offset the potential Nitrogen immobilization?

I always worry I didn't mix well enough though. It looks mixed fine, but I still wonder. I don't have any real method other than "dump it all in a box and shake it around while turning and mixing with my hands".

The fines in the bag are slightly moist already, so the mix is as well. I used MGMC in lieu of straight peat (it's mostly peat and some coir) since I had it on hand.

Since the MG is more neutral than peat (pH about 6.5 vs the 4.0 or so of peat), and most of what I am going to be growing comes from naturally acidic-soil areas, I put about half the recommended lime in. Does that sound OK?

As far as the lime, is the slight moisture that was already there enough moisture that the lime will do it's "thing" as the mix sits a couple weeks, or should I really get it good and wet first?

I would add water, turning while doing so, until the mix is thoroughly moistened.

The MG portion is only 1/7 of the overall mix, so I would add in the remainder of the Lime.
