Remember the liquidambar I asked you about? Well, I replanted it in the garden yesterday.

Boy, it was so root-bound! Here it is, in the new home.

It looks good, doesn't it?

Thanks, Xuan! I love Liquidambars...

I'm curious about the organic matter in the newly dug hole.
Do you use this method often? I've found that plants will sometimes "settle" or sink
as the organic amendments decompose.

Hi Josh...

I got an email from Al, telling me just what you "have found" - tree sinking.

Although I did put in garden soil to mix with the compost (one layer on top of the other... and up like that), I will have to correct the situation now by mixing in more garden soil though :-)

I love this liquidambar too much to risk losing it, you bet. I brought it all the way back from the States, when it was just a tiny seedling!

If anything goes wrong, I will beg for another seedling from some of you then :-)

Indeed, it would be too precious a tree to lose!
I'm glad you've caught it in time. If you need another, I'm sure there are several of us
who would happily send you a dormant Liquidambar.
