I planted my avocado tree from a seed and it is nearly 2 1/2 years old. It still looks very immature, about 3 feet tall, only has about 4 leaves at any given time and needs to be held by a post because the stalk is still very green and thin. The first 2 inches of the stalk appear to be getting woody and the leaves looked to have picked up slightly in production from the last 6 months. Right now I have it in a very large indoor tree pot. And I am in Texas so with the humidity it seems to do ok watering once a week or less. This is the first tree I have done like this and I have no idea how/if to prune, how to fertilize or if I have been doing anything wrong. I really appreciate any response on this.
