Outdoor Copper Planter..any advice??

I am a new homeowner and new to gardening.. I purchased a set of copper planters and then realized they may not be the best for our HOT Oklahoma summers! :( I really like them and still would like to use them on my patio and in the entry of my home.

The largest measures W20.75" x D20.75"

I will be shopping for Spring plants soon and would like to plant some type of a Cordyline with Sweet Potato Vine in the large planter, which would be sitting on the corner of our garage, on top of pavers surrounded by rocks. I have a few questions before I do this...

-The planter does not have drainage holes. Would putting pebbles on the bottom be enough not to drown my plants or should I drill a hole? Or would either method be okay?

-Would the metal planter fry my plants in our heat..?

-Can I line the planter with a black garbage bag so that the roots are not touching the copper..?

Anyone have experience with metal planters??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
