do geopots need barrier underneath?

I am planning on planting a whole bunch of vegetables in geopot containers. Is it necessary to put a barrier of any sort in between the container and the mulch beds I plan to lay them on? If so, can anyone suggest something creative, decorative, or both?

No barrier is necessary. In fact, you'll miss out on some of the key benefits of fabric pots (see link) if you do use a barrier. For this reason, I make sure that all of my fabric pots are in direct contact with the soil.
