It looks dead to me. Did you scrape the bark to see if the cambium is green? Al

Seeing that the branches look shriveled, I started cutting them back, looking for "green" inside. Nothing, all white and brown, and dry. So I kept cutting, and cutting, all the way down the main trunk. Finally I just took it out of the container, all the roots were dead, cut them off, all brown and black. It must've been dead when I got it.
