 o
transplanting to larger pots, best time

hello:
(southern new york area)

i have had a 3 foot weeping white pine in a large container for 2 years, and a 4 foot miss kim lilac purchased b&b and planted in the garden 2 years ago.

i wish to transplant both of them to large planters to remain as patio plants. when would be the best time to do this? i know it should be done before full growth starts but because the weather here in the north east has been unusually warm growth has started (especially on the lilac)

i would rather not wait until fall.
any advice would be appreciated
thanks

If you're just potting up, you can do it any time. If you're doing full repots with root pruning, do the lilac in early spring before bud movement & the pine in August.
