5-1-1 mix question

Posted by babelsrus 7bNC (My Page) on

I am hoping to substitute some diatomaceous earth to my 5-1-1 mix instead of perlite.
if you had to pick,
-kitty diggin's cat litter (fuller's earth)
-Napa's superabsorbent #8822

I am doing this to try and add some water retentiveness to my smart pot mix. Thank you

RE: 5-1-1 mix question

I use the Napa 8822. One test people use is to put some of your Fuller's Earth in a container with water to soak. Then freeze it. Thaw the next day, and see whether it has broken down. Napa 8822 retains its structure. Does Fuller's Earth?
