Burlap sacks for vegetable gardening?

I am wanting to grow some vegetables and have seen that people have used burlap sacks instead of containers. Has anyone done this and have any tips for a beginner? I have sweet potato slips I was thinking of planting in a burlap bag. Also some squash and tomatoes plants. I'm just not sure if all of those are suitable to grow in a bag. Any advice or input would be wonderful, thanks!

The burlap I have used in the garden didn't even make it through a season before beginning to breakdown from UV light. I was using it for shade cloth not as a container though.

Burlap will work fine if you keep the plants watered. The soil dries out faster. I have tried them for potatoes and they worked okay.
