I want to start a little experiment to see if I can get full size asparagus stalks from a container. Has anyone tried this? Was it successful? I know the roots can get huge, so can anyone say a pot size?

I researched this pretty thoroughly with searches. Most say no yet a few had success. The crucial thing seems to be a very big container. I'm goig to experiment with two 25 gallon pots (smart pots which are wide) and plant about 5 bare roots per pot. I'll see how they do sprouting, growing, and wintering over. Why not experiment too!

Think DEEP, & keeping the soil cool is a key. Asparagus roots often run to 6' deep in favorable soils, and crowns are normally planted 6-8" below the soil line. Best luck. I admire anyone who takes up the challenge. Al
