It's possible, though I believe kitty litters are usually fired at a lower temperature than say turface. Plenty of people use kitty litter in containers but here in the states, the quality varies greatly based on geography not necessarily brand. I would say that you should give it a shot, but get one bag and test it by putting some in a glass of water and completely soaking it. If it falls apart or gets mushy, it's no good. If it stays hard but just absorbs water then you are in good shape.
