Liners for Haystack Windowbox

Does anyone have any ideas for lining haystack (or horse trough as some parts of country call them) windowboxes? I saw some great ideas for replacing cocoa liners (last year the birds pulled mine all apart but they were old anyway) I have seen some great tips on alternative linings and I think it was on here..
