Watering Containers

When I would water my containers with the hose, the water would go right thru and out. I started to water using a 20 oz soda bottle. I filled the bottle with water and inverted the bottle into the soil surface. In a couple of minutes, air bubbles started to enter the bottle. This applied water very slowly and almost none came out the bottom. The plants have been doing better.
