I have 12, 18 gallon containers ready to go with 5ll for 3 tomato varieties, bush champion cucumbers, and yellow summer squash, and look forward to seeing how they grow and hopefully produce.

I have them in a spot where they will get maybe 6 hours of 8:30 am to 2:30 pm sun, which unfortunately is about the best I can do with my yard, though the lack of the very hot late afternoon sun should reduce heat stress.
I plan to water with MG at about 1/4 strength, more if needed, when watering is needed, checking that with a wooden dowel.
And yes, flushing about once a week with plain water.

And of course I have to put up deer netting. They are pretty bad here.

Oh yeah. I did want to ask how much water, gallons, is usually needed when watering an 18 gallon container from it's "I need water" state?
Also how much is usually needed to adequately flush the same container?

I wish I could help you with measurement of water, but I've never measured, to tell you the truth. I use as much as it takes, until water begins to run out the drainage holes in my pots. I'm more of a Gritty Mix user, though I hope to have some items planted in the 511 this year.

I'm sure someone will be along with the answers to your questions, though... these guys and gals are quite prompt in helping!
