Tomatoes in Al's 5-1-1 with pictures - Thank you Al & everyone

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank Al and everyone else in this forum for sharing so much of konwledge. I have been lurking around this forum for a while and made Al's 5-1-1 mix. Though it was difficult to find the right bark, everthing else went easy after that.

Sweet 100 cherry, got the plant from walmart and planted on 5-1-1 on 02-Apr-2012. After 2 weeks in 5-1-1 Mix.

after 2 more weeks on 30-Apr-2012

Better Boy on 30-Apr-2012. Started from seed. In 5-1-1 for last 4 weeks.

Leaf within leaves?

There are flowers in all of the plants. Looks good to my untrained eyes (let me know if you see it otherwise) and want to share it with the group.

Those are happy mater's Nirmal, congratulations! I also like the string training, I may just give that a try. And by the way, the stem on that Big Boy is ridiculous!! LOL!

Thank you Al. All of your threads are joy to read with explanation that a common person can understand.

SuburbangardenMD, Yeah I am planning to train them on string after it gets little taller.

PJ, Josh I didn't expect it turn like this but I did plant it may be 5" below where its now. I kept topping the mix when the plant started growing and they are in 18 gallon pot 3/4 filled with mix.

mirmalk, beautiful! A couple of questions if you don't mind. Are those totes self watering somehow or just filled with 5:1:1 and what are they sitting on? What exposure do they have? Thanks and they look fantastic.

Hi Keith,

They are NOT self watering. They get sun from noon till sunset. All the tote's are sitting on the ground. The mix itself is made of exact formula of 5:1:1.

Im not sure if this would help.

03/30/2012 Transplanted into 18 gallon pot
