Another question about gritty mix

Hi everyone! I started some Poncirus trifoliata seeds in gritty mix that have since sprouted. I was hopping to grow these in containers for a few years before they are big enough and then I would plant them in the ground outside. It just occurred to me that you probably can't plant a rootball of gritty mix in the ground? Or can you? Should I put these seedlings in something else if my plan is to eventually out them in the ground?

Thanks

Kristopher
