I just applied my first round of Gnatrol WDG that I got from amazon. Its veggie safe. I bought the smallest bottle for my 5 potted veggie plants that have Miracle Gro potting mix. The reviews are great but I may post my results anyway!

Those are fungus gnats. They are attracted to moist organic matter. If you can allow the top surface of your soil mix dry, or better, use a potting mix that drains very well and dries out on top, you will usually not have a problem. They don't damage mature or healthy plants, but their larva live in the soil and can hurt the roots of seedlings. To get rid of them you need to kill the larva. Bacillus thuringiensis or Bt will kill them. It's in gnatrol and mosquito dunks. You just dissolve it in water and drench the soil a couple times. More dangerous insecticides won't help and they can hurt you or your plant.
