If your container is cylindrical it probably holds about 5 gallons of mix. That's big enough for a couple basil plants, one bush bean or one pepper. Most indeterminate cherry tomatoes are actually huge plants and would like a container twice that size or bigger. Many people do grow tomatoes in 5-gallon pots, but they find they need to water every day and fertilize heavily at that size.

O...glad to hear your assesment of sizes. Size does matter...haha. I have recently put tomatoe plants in 15 gal nursery pots. I think this might work good. They are growing and I am thinking this could be a winner. Imagine if I had Al's soil in there!
