Found for bark 1' for 5-1-1. Questions

I guess I was looking for the wrong thing. When I searched for composted bark instead of composited pine bark I found whole lot of places selling it.

I found a place with less than 1" pieces of aged bark. They are selling it as a mulch and can deliver by the yard.
So I think I will have enough and more for my containers so I can actually use it to contain the weeds which have no problem growing where nothing else will grow!
My questions are
1. Will this 1" bark need to be screened to get the recommended size of 1/8 inch for 511 mix ?
2. Before I lay down bark mulch n mulch does the ground have to be weeded ?

ani, yes you will need to screen the bark no matter what the package says or looks like for the 5/1/1 mix. The more weeds are removed before you mulch the better. Weeds are tenacious and can grow through about anything so remove as much as you can and expect to pull a few that come through. Good luck!
