Container Gardening

Help in AZ

Hey everyone, been having trouble figuring out what's good to grow in Arizona zone 9. i live in a north facing apt with a nice size balcony.
i've lost a few plants since moving from CA to AZ.
i need some recommendations on what to grow safely in containers.
this is what i have so far.
gold capella schefflera-benjamin ficus- spider plant- they get bright light but no direct sunlight..
the rest are all succulents which are all in direct sunlight.
wondering if this arrangement is safe.

i welcome all suggestions and advice..
