Lemon plant not happy

So I've had a lemon plant for a couple of months for the firs ttime since I was much younger and it's not doing brilliantly. It's dropping it's leaves and the stems are looking more and more dry.
I have swapped it between full sun and partial shade and both watered often and much less and I just am not having much luck! Any advice would be appreciated!
