This plant should do well in the 5.1.1. mix...

This is my caster bean plant. I have heard of how beautiful they can be and how big they can grow. Let's see how well it does in the 5.1.1 mix...:-)

That is of course if we can get some sun for more than one day in a row. It has been raining and drizzling for 5-6 days at once, then sunny for a day in between all month..

I can tell you that no matter how you work it, either the castor bean or the Impatiens will suffer - at least until the castor bean is large enough to shade the Impatiens, but it won't be strong enough to support itself if you grow it in the shade - unless you stake it.

Thanks Al...

If the sun ever comes out or not, I will take progress pics to show just how well the mix stands up to ALL this unbeleivable rain and wet weather...If there is to be any of my plants dying to root rot in the mixes, it would certainly happen by now or later..

Despite 12% sun this month, with another 3 inches of rain today, and 3inches tommorrow, and cool 60's. As it stands now, the long range forcast for July is the same, the 5.1.1 will prove that it can work fine in my weather if these plants do well and don't heel to all the water.

They are in full sun, behind the non relentless cloudy drizzly days though..:-)

Can't wait for the first more than 1 day in a row sunny stretch of warm days..Now I can say it is really getting depressing...:-(

What amazes me is that despite all this, all the full sun loving plants can still flower so profusely, such as roses with only 4 sunny days in the whole month..But, as soon as they do, they rot away..
Lost all my container lettuce to slugs and rot, not to the root rot, but to leaf mushy brown rot..
Hopefully this container will do well despite the odds..
We'll see..

Mike
