I think I read on the web that I could plant both sweet potatoes and tomatoes in the same container and bothe would grow well. Is this my imagination or has someone done this?

I have my sweet potatoes planted in 5 gallon buckets and would love to also plant a tomato in each bucket as long as cometition will not be an issue.

Big mistake in my opinion. Bush type (determinate) tomatoes require a minimum pot size of five gallons per plant. Most indeterminate (vine type) tomatoes require a minimum 10-gallons of mix all to themselves. I grow my tomatoes in 20 and 25 gallon pots and their roots fill the pots. Sweet potatoes need almost as much space as a bush type tomato.

Agree with above. Also....sweet potatoes in Duluth?? Containers might not be consistently warm enough. Would definitely use black landscape fabric over a mound of dirt to even think about trying it.

Sure if that pot is a 30 gallon pot
