Container Gardening

container size for shrubs up to ~ 3ft tall

Hello everyone from this first time poster. I would like to grow shrubs in containers on my terrace. I am wondering if a container like the size/shape (roughly 3ft long, 10in wide, 10in tall) shown in the attached picture is big enough for shrubs that grow to around 3-5ft high.

My first question is what kind of shrubs? What is your zone? how much sun?
And the answer to your question, it will depend on what you are planting and how big they are. It the shrubs are planting are very small - like 6"-8 high, it could work , but a 3ft high shrubs' root mass probably work fit, let alone survive long. Find a deeper and wider container, with drainage, then do a seach on this site for Als 511 soil mix and make a batch of well drainned soil mix. Also follow Als' posting on fertilizer.
