Sweet potato vine potatoes edible?

Last year when I didn't get my sweet potato vine plants out of frost's way in time, I dug up the vines & found some whopper potatoes attached!

I read somewhere that the potatoes are edible, but not very flavorful.

I'm just wondering if anyone's lived to tell about eating them. lol ;-)

You might want to ask this in the Vegetable Gardening Forum. The topic of growing sweet potatoes comes up regularly there.

Ornamental sweet potatoes may contain significantly higher levels of cyanogenic glycosides and other antinutrients, like trypsin inhibitors. Cooking takes care of the tiny amount in regular cultivar sweet potatoes.
