| Any suggestions for an evergreen for shallow window boxes that are mounted on a long balcony railing. Prefer down growing (vine-like) but not necessary. Light: east/south in NYC with no buildings blocking light. 7th floor and it's sometimes windy but not very windy. Anything that will just stay green most of the year as window boxes can be seen from inside the loft and in wintertime, they are depressing. Don't want anything fake or cutesy -- just a plant that might be able to survive. thanks for any help |

| You could try a trailing juniper, however, leaving it to the cold winter isn't the best idea. If the soil freezes solid, you will probably kill them. Junipers are tough, but no plant likes frozen roots. Joe |
