potatoes chomped

my container of potatoes became a deer dinner. They left 8-12in stems but stripped most leaves off. Will the topping off of the stems ruin any chance of potato development?
I should mention that this happened a week ago and there is new leaf growth begining on the stems.
thanks!

It won't help. The photosynthate the leaves make is what increases the number of and enlarges the specialized root structures (tubers). How much it affects yield will depend on how rough the deer were on the plants and how robust they (the plants) were when they were accosted, which will determine how quickly they bounce back.

many thanks, Al. I think I'll leaf them. :)
it makes for a good chance to see how much they can bounce back from.

Frustrating! I buy window screen that comes on a roll. You cut it the need length and height. Then cut sticks to support the mesh. Yes, it blocks a little sun-light. But a little less crop is better than none. The screen is re-usable and at the end of the season, roll it or fold it up and put it away. Hope this helps.
