temporary greenhouse for container plants

I have a patio with a tomato, cucumber, and green pepper plants in containers. I'm going out of town this weekend and won't be able to water them, I'll be gone for about four days. I was thinking about making a temporary greenhouse with a plastic sheet. Will this work? The temps will be upper 70s to low 80s. Any suggestions?

Probably not a good idea if it's in full sun. You'll need to vent it, too, or risk the possibility of high heat and the development of the fungaluglies. When you vent it, you reduce its effectiveness at reducing transpirational/evaporative water loss, so it's kind of a catch 22 situation. No one you could beg to water them for you, hmm? Al

I would just put a kiddie pool like basin and put the containers in with a few inches of water. i don't think 4 days of soaking will harm your plant esp if your kiddie pool water dries up by the second or third day.

Thanks for the info. Unfornately, it's a holiday weekend and most people are gone. I think I'll try the water basin.
